Victoria West Coast Swing Collective has Money to Disperse

This update (January 2026) from the Victoria West Coast Swing Collective Society (the Collective) is long overdue.

First of all congratulations to everyone in the community for helping to create West Coast Swing (WCS) dancing in Victoria and especially to the following people for their ongoing lessons and events.

  • Journey Song (Westie Inspiration)

  • John de Pfyffer (Dance City)

  • Andre Russo (West of West Coast Dance Co) WoW

  • Dean Stroeder (Pro Pat Legion and Centennial United Church)

  • WACK (Wyatt, Amanda, Canice, Kelsey)

In late August 2025, most of the assets belonging to the Collective were purchased by WoW. The dances continued without missing a beat and are still operating.

One important outstanding item we’d like to share is related to the Collective’s finances. Over nearly 10 years, the Collective accumulated approximately $15,000. These funds remain in the Collective’s bank account. These were largely accrued from the workshops that we ran, often several times per year.

To ensure these funds are used thoughtfully and in the best interests of the community, a new committee was formed to distribute these funds over time in support of the Victoria WCS Community. The current committee members are:

Wally Choo, Sue Holloway, Murray McAllindon, Lindsay Moir, Darlene Pinch, and Eydie Wood.

We’d love your input. We invite you to share ideas on how these funds could best be used to support and grow West Coast Swing in Victoria. Simply reply to this email (or email victoriawcscollective@gmail.com) with your suggestions, and we’ll gather all responses as part of our decision-making process.

If you also have any questions, comments, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reply - we’re happy to connect.

Here’s to a great year of dancing, growth, and connection!

Warm regards,

The Victoria West Coast Swing Collective Society
